General Information For All Classes

We maintain a no-refund, no-exchange, no-credit policy on all classes, weekend camps and tours (unless cancelled by Heartbeat Quilts, in which case a full cash refund will be made). There are no exceptions, please don't ask.
There is no refund for missed sessions in a series.
Children and/or guests are NOT PERMITTED at any time.
No cell phone permitted in the classroom.
Materials for workshops are an additional fee unless otherwise stated.
Copying of books and/or patterns is NEVER PERMITTED. Almost every workshop requires the purchase of a book or pattern.
Sewing machine classes require that you bring your machine to class and have a working knowledge of its uses. There are a limited number of rentals available.
Unless otherwise specified, working knowledge of rotary cutting equipment is required.
Workshop materials must be purchased prior to the day of the class. Come to class prepared to learn to sew.
Workshops start on time. Instructors cannot repeat missed information. In the case of series classes, missed classes cannot be made up. We try help you in every way we can during regular working hours.
Classes are hands-on sewing without in-depth discussion.
Please DO NOT wear any strong perfumes, scented hairsprays or scented lotions to class. Be courteous to those fellow quilters who are allergic to these items. Thank you for your consideration of other's health.

Fall 2010 Classes

Quilter's Academy, Vol. 1 - Freshman Year

This is a new course being offered at Heartbeat Quilts with Helen Weinman as your instructor. It is a skill-building course in quiltmaking designed for the novice and experienced quilter alike. The first course book “Freshman Year” teaches basics such as accurate cutting and piecing (1” squares). Covers equipment, sewing areas, many tools and gadgets, basics of base grids, simple drafting, selecting fabric, piecing borders, mitering corners and even more. The projects are small and each builds on previous lessons. There are NO TRIANGLES in the first book, only squares and rectangles.

Helen’s extensive knowledge of quilting and 25 years of teaching bring Harriet and Carrie’s lessons to life. Helen’s additional valuable tricks and humor are the added bonus.

This is all machine sewing. You must have your own sewing machine and basic equipment. You bring to class the equipment you now own including rulers, thread, needles, etc. You might want to upgrade on some equipment but there is no requirement to do so. You will need minimum fabric for your projects and can use fabric from your stash or buy new.

All classes are based on $5.00/hour for instruction. The course is 30 hours and you pay as you go, session by session. You may come on different days (ie Wed or Sat etc) but you must take the course in sequential order.
